Well, it's finally gotten to this point. SweetBirch Designs is jumping into the Etsy pool....
Don't get me wrong here...Etsy is amazing. I've ordered plenty of items off of there and most I've been completely satisfied with. I love that it gives creatives a chance to reach out to a larger audience and really show their product and what they've got to offer to the world.
I always felt like it was a little like selling out...."I'm not a template designer" "I'm not one of those big box online design companies that has prints coming out the wazoo that I can just plug a letter or name into" etc. etc.
See, I'm not one of those designers that can just come up with great concepts out of the blue...I glean parts of a personality from my client and come up with something inspired by them. i.e. I need a client in order to design something. I like that about my company and my design process though....really makes the piece very personal for myself and the person who I'm designing for. So, how do you get more templates if you design the way I do? Offer a killer discount. I decided that this week only a personalized design will be only $20. That's pretty crazy considering the time and effort that it takes to really make a design happen. Any size, any concept, any colors....$20.00. I'm hoping this will give me enough "templates" in order to start up my Etsy shop and see what happens. Maybe in reality, I'm a little nervous that the world won't like what I got? Maybe that's why I held out? Who knows, all I know is I like to live my life facing my fears and what better way than to jump in with both feet.
Here's some stuff that I've done in the past that will be in the Etsy shop so far. Love to hear opinions!
